Support Local Schools and Spread Holiday Cheer in Aiken!

Support Local Schools This Holiday Season in Aiken!

As the festive season rolls around, the city of Aiken is buzzing with excitement for the annual Community Christmas Card initiative! This heartwarming program has been making a splash in the community since its inception in 2017, and it’s back this year with even more generosity. The Aiken Standard recently presented an incredible donation of $8,103 to the Aiken County Public School District at the school board meeting held on January 25. This contribution is a product of the love and support from local residents and businesses that continue to open their hearts and wallets to help students in need.

How It All Works

So, how exactly does the Community Christmas Card work? It’s simple! When you donate just $1, your name is added to a list that appears in the special Christmas Day issue of the Aiken Standard. What a lovely way to honor friends, family, or even to remember someone special who’s no longer with us. Every dollar counts and helps create a ripple effect of kindness throughout Aiken’s schools.

Last year, the initiative managed to raise $2,277, showcasing just how impactful these small donations can be. John Boyette, the executive editor of the Aiken Standard, stated, “The Community Christmas Card is a great example of how something as small as $1 can create a ripple effect and help one child.” Isn’t that a powerful reminder that every little bit helps?

Where Does the Money Go?

Here’s the best part: all of the money collected will go into a fund accessible by the counselors in the Aiken County Public School District. This fund will directly assist students in need by providing services and supplies. By participating in this initiative, your contribution becomes a lifeline for kids in our community, making the holiday season a little brighter for those who may be struggling.

How to Contribute

Feeling inspired to lend a hand? You can donate in a few easy ways:

  • Online: Simply visit aikenstandard.com/donate to make a contribution. For each additional name you want to add, donate another $1!
  • By Mail: Write down the names you’d like to see on the card, along with a $1 for each name, and send it to the Aiken Standard at 326 Rutland Drive, Aiken, S.C. 29801. Just make sure the names are legible, so everyone gets their recognition!
  • By Phone: Prefer talking to someone directly? Call the Aiken Standard office at 803-648-2311 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. from Monday through Friday to make your donation over the phone.

Time is of the Essence!

Don’t delay your good intentions! The deadline for contributions is quickly approaching on December 15. You have just a few days to make a difference and be part of this wonderful community effort. Every dollar you donate helps ensure that children in our very own Aiken schools have the resources they need to succeed.

Join the Community Spirit

As the year comes to a close, let’s spread kindness and joy together. Join the community of generous donors and help create a brighter future for our students. Together, we can make a significant impact—one dollar at a time. Remember, you can also follow updates and stories from the Aiken community, perhaps even featuring sports coverage by our dedicated reporters! Let’s keep the spirit alive this holiday season!
