Augusta, Ga. – If you’re a small business owner in Augusta or the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) and you’ve been feeling the impact of Hurricane Helene, there’s good news for you! Local officials have just announced that help is on the way. Senator Jon Ossoff kicked off the positive news this past Friday, revealing that the Small Business Administration (SBA) has set up a dedicated Business Recovery Center (BRC) for our community.
The Business Recovery Center is located at CSRA Regional Commission on 3626 Walton Way Extension, Suite 1 in Augusta. If you’re considering visiting, their door is wide open for walk-in consultations. However, to make sure you get the attention you deserve, the SBA suggests scheduling an appointment beforehand. This proactive step can really help streamline your experience.
The center will be running on regular hours from Monday to Friday, starting at 8 a.m. and wrapping up by 6 p.m. On Saturdays, they’ll be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., while Sundays are a day of rest. It’s also worth noting that the center will be closed on Monday, October 14, so plan your visit accordingly!
Once you’re there, you can take advantage of the various resources available. SBA staff members will be on-site to assist business owners with disaster loan applications, provide guidance on what documentation is necessary, and even update you on the status of your applications. This can be a huge relief, especially when dealing with all the challenges that come after a natural disaster.
Timing is crucial when it comes to applying for assistance. According to the SBA, the deadline for returning applications specifically for physical property damage is November 29, 2024. If your business has suffered economic injury, you have until June 30, 2025 to submit those applications. Mark your calendars so you won’t miss out!
If you have any lingering questions or need additional assistance, you can also visit the SBA’s website or give them a call at 1-800-659-2955. They are there to support you every step of the way.
It’s times like these that remind us how vital our small businesses are to the fabric of our community. They are not just economic engines but also vital in preserving our local cultures and relationships. The SBA’s efforts to provide immediate, in-person assistance during this recovery phase are significant and can make a real difference for many families and livelihoods affected by the storm.
So, if you’re in need of help, don’t hesitate! Swing by the Business Recovery Center and take advantage of the services being offered. Together, we can rebuild and come back stronger than ever.
