Great Events Happening Today

Today, September 23, is buzzing with activity across our charming city. First up is the monthly meeting of Aiken Peace at the Aiken Unitarian Universalist Church, starting at 6:30 p.m. This month’s topic is sure to spark some interest – Palestine 101. The meeting is free and open to everyone, so if you’re looking to engage in some thought-provoking discussion, swing by or visit Aiken Peace on Facebook for more details.

Literacy and Lemonade is another fantastic event happening from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Aiken County Public Library, located at 314 Chesterfield St. S.W. This gathering marks the launch of a new adult literacy program, and you won’t want to miss hearing from Lisa Cole, director of Turning Pages South Carolina. If you’re looking to unwind and have some fun, why not check out Let’s Go Bingo? It’s happening right after at Aiken Senior Life Services from 6 to 8 p.m. For a small cover charge of $5, you can grab game cards for $1 each or get a bundle for $15 to $25. It’s a super fun way to engage with friends and test your luck!

A Glimpse into Tuesday’s Plans

And if you thought today was packed, wait till you hear about tomorrow! The Aiken Republican Club will gather at Newberry Hall at 11 a.m. This meeting features guest speaker Matt Moore, famed political strategist and former chairman of the S.C. Republican Party. If politics pique your interest, this could be an event for you. Just a heads-up, there’s a cost of $20 for members and $25 for non-members, which you can pay at the door, but don’t forget to reserve your spot by calling K.T. Ruthven at 803-617-9356.

Also on the agenda for Tuesday is Fall Story Time at the Rye Patch at 4 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or cozy blanket and enjoy stories outdoors! It’s a fabulous way for little ones to enjoy reading and it’s completely free. Snacks are welcome, and in case of rain, Story Time will move indoors, so no worries there.

Midweek and Beyond!

Next week, options continue to abound with interactive clubs. The Stormwater STEM Club, offering hands-on water science activities, kicks off at 4 p.m. on Tuesday—what better way to spark science interest in kids and teens? Remember to register by calling 803-642-2020 ext. 1121.

Book lovers will enjoy the Kids’ Book Club meeting Thursday at 4 p.m. Bring your favorite mythology book and join in for snacks and activities designed for ages 5-10, with younger siblings always welcome!
