Bright and Sunny Weather
Before we get into the nitty-gritty of library happenings, let’s talk about the weather. We’re looking at a delightful day with lots of sunshine and a high of 57°F. A light breeze from the west at around 5 to 10 mph means it’s a perfect day to step outside, enjoy some fresh air, and then cozy up at the library!
Weekly French Classes Are Back!
Whether you’re a language lover or just enjoy a good challenge, make sure to check out the French Classes at the library! They meet every Friday on December 6, 13, 20, and 27. If you’re comfortable chatting away in French, join the conversational group at 2 p.m. For those still getting the hang of things, the beginners’ group meets at 3 p.m.. Just be sure to register first by chatting with Karine at the circulation desk or calling 803-642-2020 ext. 2.
Coloring Isn’t Just for Kids!
What could be more relaxing than some good old-fashioned coloring? Join us for Coloring for Grownups from 2-4 p.m. on Thursdays, December 5 and 19. Just bring your colored pencils or felt pens, and we’ll provide the coloring sheets and delicious refreshments. Sounds like a perfect way to unwind! Want more details? Play & Learn: Fun for Little Ones!
On Wednesdays, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., kids aged 0 to 5 are invited to the library for Play & Learn. This is a fantastic opportunity for children to explore and learn through play. Plus, caregivers can pick up tips on promoting early literacy!
Noon Years Eve Party for Kids!
Mark your calendars for the Noon Years Eve Party on Tuesday, December 31, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This festive event is perfect for kids aged 1 and older. Get ready for a morning full of fun activities, yummy snacks, and dancing as we ring in the new year a bit early!
Unleash Your Inner Poet
Are you a budding poet or just enjoy expressing yourself through words? Join us at the Art of Words Poets’ Open Mic on Thursday, December 19, from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m. This is a great chance for adults, teens, and young adults to showcase their skills and get inspired. Staffed Sleepovers: Stuffed Animal Style!
Your stuffed animals deserve a night out, too! Bring your favorite toy to the library for a Stuffed Animal Sleepover on Thursday, December 12, from 5-6 p.m. Dress in your jammies and join us for snacks and fun before leaving your plush pals for a sleepover. Pick them up the next day to see what adventures they had!
Wrap Up the Year with More!
The Kids’ Book Club will also meet on Thursday, December 19, at 4 p.m.. Kids ages 5-10 can bring any book set in winter or a cold climate for some discussion, snacks, and activities! Plus, for adults looking to improve their reading skills, the Turning Pages S.C. Adult Literacy Program offers free, personalized tutoring sessions at the library.

The Aiken County Public Library is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Don’t forget, the library will be closed on December 9, 24, 25, and 26, so plan your visits accordingly!
