It’s that time of year again in North Augusta! As the leaves begin to change and the air turns crisp, the community eagerly anticipates the return of a beloved October tradition—the Saint Bartholomew’s Pumpkin Patch. Now in its 28th year, this charming pumpkin patch has become a favorite destination for families, friends, and anyone looking to embrace the spirit of fall.
As you drive by the Saint Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church on Martintown Road, you can’t help but notice the joyful sight of pumpkins dotting the church hill. Each year, the patch is awash with vibrant orange pumpkins, big and small, just waiting to be picked. It’s not just pumpkins, though; you can also find a variety of gourds and decorative pumpkins to add a festive touch to your home decor.
For many families in the area, visiting the pumpkin patch has become a cherished annual ritual. Parents bring their kids to snap photos among the pumpkins, creating lasting memories that will be treasured for years to come. It’s a perfect time to select the ideal pumpkin for carving into a spooky jack-o-lantern or a bakery-style pumpkin pie. The joy of choosing a pumpkin makes this experience even more special.
One of the most heartwarming aspects of the pumpkin patch is its contribution to the community. All funds raised from pumpkin sales support numerous church ministries aimed at helping those in need. This includes initiatives like Walking Tall Ministries, the Kay Bryden Brown Bag Ministry, and subsequent support for local programs such as CMONA and Hope for our School. Moreover, it assists men and women battling cancer and contributes to Golden Harvest Food Bank.
Church member Sandy Zeller emphasizes the importance of these efforts, explaining, “We do have to charge a little bit more because the money does go back to the community. So it’s not just a matter of taking a pumpkin, going home, and placing it on your mantle. Every time you buy a pumpkin from us, you know that the money, the proceeds, the extra money that you’re spending is going back into the community.” It’s a beautiful reminder that when you purchase a pumpkin, you’re doing much more than taking home a seasonal decoration—you’re investing in your community.
Interested in visiting? The pumpkin patch is open every weekday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and on weekends, you can drop by Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.. With ample time to explore, families can leisurely wander through the patch and select their favorite pumpkins while taking in the cheerful atmosphere.
So, grab your family and friends, don your coziest sweater, and head to the Saint Bartholomew’s Pumpkin Patch. Enjoy the fun of picking out the perfect pumpkin while supporting local ministries and creating wonderful memories in the heart of North Augusta. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the fall season and embrace the spirit of giving!
