S.C. Woman Accused of Killing Pregnant Teen Days Before Her Due Date

Barnwell, South Carolina: A shocking murder of a pregnant teenager has sent shockwaves through the community. Police have accused a woman of fatally stabbing the 17-year-old who was days away from giving birth.

Tragic Discovery

On February 18, 2024, the local law enforcement discovered the lifeless body of Maylashia Hogg in Barnwell County. Hogg had been missing for several days prior to the incident. The expected due date of her baby girl, named Londyn Charity, was set for February 14, according to sources close to the family.

Suspect Arrested

In a recent report released by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, a suspect has been identified in the case. Jacqueline Reid, 62, has been charged with two counts of murder following an exhaustive investigation into the matter.

Alleged Crime

Authorities believe that Reid stabbed Hogg multiple times using a sharp-edged weapon. Police also note that Hogg was last sighted around Reid’s residence. Furthermore, a subsequent search warrant executed at Reid’s home unveiled evidence corroborating the crime.

Unveiling the Relationship

At this juncture, law enforcement has not released any information on the nature of the relationship between Reid and Hogg. Reid has yet to enter a plea or appoint an attorney who will represent her during the forthcoming legal process.

Community Response

The gruesome act has left the local community horrified and mournful. “Please keep Maylashia’s loved ones in your thoughts,” implored Barnwell Police Chief Michael Butts. He also called on everyone to rally together during this challenging time, “We must continue to care for each other, to honor Maylashia and Londyn’s memories, and come together to heal.”
