Early Wednesday morning, a horrific incident on Highway 17 Bypass resulted in the death of a pedestrian who was struck by two separate vehicles, as per reports from the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP).

According to SCHP Corporal David Jones, the tragic scene unfolded around 2:15 a.m. near Wood Thrush Drive in Horry County. The victim, who was attempting to traverse the road, was initially struck by a 2002 Lexus four-door. Following the initial impact, a second, unidentified vehicle also struck the pedestrian before hastily departing from the scene.

Continuing Investigation

Details regarding the pedestrian and the hit-and-run driver have yet to be released. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently conducting an extensive investigation into the incident.

The authorities are urging anyone with pertinent information to come forward. More specifically, the SCHP is seeking help in tracking down the second vehicle involved in the accident, which fled the scene shortly after the incident.
