Sunny Weather with Patchy Fog and a New Environmental Leader in North Augusta

Sunny Skies with a Chance of Fog in North Augusta

Good morning, North Augusta! It seems like today, we’re in for a delightful mix when it comes to our weather. This morning started off nicely, with those friendly clouds and a bit of sunshine. But as we transition into the afternoon, the clouds are taking over – don’t put away those cozy sweaters just yet!

Weather Details

Expect high temperatures around 69°F, perfect for a stroll in the park or grabbing a warm coffee with friends! One thing to keep in mind, though, is that we’ve got some areas of patchy fog rolling in. So, if you’re out driving, just keep those lights on and take it easy.

As we move into the evening, we’re looking at an overcast sky with a slight chance of a rain shower. The temperatures will dip down to about 57°F.

Winds and Other Notes

Winds will be light today, blowing in from the south at about 10 to 15 mph. So while it’s going to feel a bit cooler with those clouds overhead, there’s no need to worry about anything too wild. Just a gentle breeze to refresh your face every now and then!

A Local Leader Takes the Helm

South Carolina Department of Environmental Services. This is a significant milestone for both her career and our community!

What Does This Mean?

For those who may not know, Myra has been a crucial part of environmental protection in South Carolina for over 30 years. She stepped into her role as interim director back in July when the former Department of Health and Environmental Control split into two departments – Environmental Services and the Department of Public Health. What a transition!

In announcing her new role, the governor praised Myra for her “extensive leadership” and her deep commitment to our state’s environmental practices. Isn’t it reassuring to know we have someone with so much experience at the helm, especially someone who loves our beautiful state and all its natural resources?

Myra’s Background

Originally from Edgefield, Myra now calls North Augusta home with her husband, Dan. She has a solid educational background with a Bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Clemson University and a Master’s in public health from the University of South Carolina. Oh, and did we mention? She’s also a certified Hazardous Materials Manager and actively chairs the WaterSC Water Resources Working Group.

Myra expressed her gratitude for the opportunity, stating how honored she feels to lead the Department of Environmental Services. Her commitment to protecting our air, land, water, and coastal resources is admirable and inspiring!
