North Augusta Celebrates Pink Friday, Boosting Local Businesses and Community Spirit

North Augusta Welcomes Pink Friday with Open Arms!

The quaint streets of North Augusta were bustling with excitement on November 22 as local businesses came together to celebrate Pink Friday, an event that shines a spotlight on the importance of supporting small and local establishments. This delightful day, held the Friday before Black Friday, is part of a larger movement that began in 2020 to encourage shoppers to think local first.

Local Businesses Shine Bright

Shops across downtown North Augusta joined in the fun, offering special discounts and unique deals. Popular spots like Shoppe 3131, High Cotton, and the adorable Orange Otter Toy Store opened their doors wide to welcome eager shoppers. It’s not just about the sales; it’s about building a community that values local talent and creativity.

High Cotton – A Beacon for Local Shoppers

At High Cotton, store manager Phoebe Rice beamed with enthusiasm as she described what makes her boutique a beloved part of the community. “We try to get everything we can do for the community and keep local stuff in here as we can,” she said. From trendy clothing to delightful gifts and gourmet foods, the shop offers a little something for everyone.

Many customers visited the store that day asking, “What is this Pink Friday about?” Rice took the opportunity to educate them, explaining that it’s a celebration kicking off the holiday season. “It’s hard to thrive in retail, so events like this are very special for us,” she added.

Orange Otter Toys – A Magical Wonderland

Just a stone’s throw away, the whimsical Orange Otter Toys was buzzing with energy. Employees Kate Sturdevent and Morgan Thompson shared their excitement about being the only toy store in town. “It’s a unique experience for kids, especially those who have never been to a proper toy store,” Sturdevent remarked.

Thompson chimed in, “When you shop locally, you can find things you won’t see at big-box stores like Walmart or Target, making it a special treat!” The anticipation of a rush of holiday shoppers was palpable, as the duo prepared for the day’s festivities.

A Day to Remember

The jubilant atmosphere didn’t just stop with Pink Friday. Local businesses were eager to continue the momentum into the holiday shopping season with events planned for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. “The holidays bring a lot of events and excitement for us,” Thompson noted, highlighting the community spirit that fills the air this time of year.

Community Strong

The essence of Pink Friday goes beyond discounts; it celebrates the heart of North Augusta—its people. Every shopper that walks through the doors of local merchants supports families, neighbors, and friends, helping foster a vibrant local economy.

Join the Movement!

If you missed the action this year, mark your calendars for the next Pink Friday! Remember, every purchase made at local businesses contributes to your community’s growth and sustainability. Here’s to brightening up our local streets and keeping North Augusta shining with charm!

As we enter this festive season, let’s make a conscious effort to shop local and show love for our community. Happy shopping, everyone!
