Exciting Times Ahead for North Augusta: Upcoming Municipal Election
Hey there, North Augusta residents! Big news is brewing in our lovely city as we gear up for the 2025 North Augusta Municipal Election and a special election, both set for April 29. It’s shaping up to be a busy day at the polls!
What’s on the Ballot?
On that day, we’ll be casting our votes for some key positions in our local government. Voters will have the chance to choose a new mayor and fill four City Council seats. The current mayor, Briton Williams, and several City Council members, including Pat Carpenter, Jenafer McCauley, and David McGhee, are all up for re-election. Each of these important roles comes with a four-year term, so this is not something to take lightly!
A Special Election
But that’s not all! We’ll also be participating in a Special Election on the same day to fill the seat left empty by Eric Presnell. He recently announced he’s moving out of state, which means his seat needs to be filled before his term expires in April 2027. It’s a great chance for people to step up and make their voices heard!
Mark Your Calendars!
If you’re thinking about running for one of these positions, you’ll want to pay attention to the upcoming dates! Candidate filing kicks off on December 16 and wraps up at noon on December 23. If more candidates sign up than there are available seats, primaries will take place on February 11, and any necessary run-offs will be held on February 25.
Why It Matters
You might be wondering why your vote is so important. Well, local elections are crucial for shaping the community we live in! The decisions made by our mayor and City Council affect everything from local parks to business development and public safety. So, getting informed and participating in the voting process is vital for ensuring North Augusta remains a great place to live.
As we approach the election, let’s remember there are many ways to engage. Speak to your neighbors, attend community meetings, and keep an eye on what candidates are proposing. Your input is invaluable and can really shape the future of our city.

Those lovely winds coming from the east-northeast at 10 to 15 mph will keep things feeling fresh. Low temperatures will settle at around 58°F, so grab a sweater if you’re heading out!
