North Augusta, S.C. is buzzing with excitement as residents prepare for the much-anticipated Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee, kicking off this Friday night. This beloved festival has delighted families for 38 years, and after recent storm worries, locals are especially thrilled that the event is back on track!
As many in the area have been busy dealing with the aftermath of the recent storm, the festival comes as a welcome reprieve. Mayor Briton Williams expressed his enthusiasm for the event, sharing how important it is for people to have something delightful to look forward to.
“People need this weekend to get out, to have fun,” Williams said. “Forget about the fact that they don’t have internet, forget about all of the issues they’ve dealt with over the last 3 weeks. So I think our role, our leadership role in government right now is we have got to try everything in our power to put normalcy back in the lives of our citizens.”
The Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee is free for everyone and promises a packed schedule of fun. Attendees can expect live musical performances on multiple stages, showcasing a variety of talented artists. Food lovers will rejoice at the vast selection of food vendors offering everything from classic carnival treats to unique culinary delights.
For families, there’s a special kid’s zone located along Georgia Avenue, ensuring the little ones have plenty of engaging activities. One beloved attraction making its return this year is the ferris wheel, sure to be a hit among kids and adults alike!
Gates for the festival will open at 5:00 PM on Friday and at 10:00 AM on Saturday, allowing everyone to enjoy the festivities throughout the weekend. Organizers have thoughtfully arranged the schedule to ensure the event wraps up by 10:30 PM, giving attendees plenty of time to return home for a good night’s sleep or even attend church on Sunday.
The community spirit surrounding the Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee is palpable. With so many people eager to reconnect, this annual celebration serves as a crucial reminder of the joy that comes from coming together. City officials put in significant effort to ensure the event could go off without a hitch, recognizing how vital morale boosting can be in tough times.
