Exciting Changes Ahead for North Augusta as Crowne Plaza Sells for $42 Million

NORTH AUGUSTA, SC — Big news is buzzing around the city! The Crowne Plaza hotel has recently changed hands, with a whopping price tag of $42 million! Purchased by the Flacks Group, a U.S. investment company based in sunny Miami, this deal was officially announced on November 26. The hotel isn’t just a place to stay; it’s become an integral part of the North Augusta community since it opened its doors in 2019.

A Prime Location

Why did Flacks Group go for the Crowne Plaza? According to chairman, CEO, and founder Michael Flacks, it was too good to pass up. He pointed out the hotel’s location, which is not just beautiful but is in close vicinity to the famous Augusta National Golf Club—a strong draw, especially during the Masters Tournament. Flacks described the Crowne as “a compelling opportunity,” thanks to its modern construction and its placement in “one of America’s most celebrated tourist destinations.”

All the Right Amenities

One of the highlights that tempted the investors to make the purchase is the hotel’s trendy Jackson’s Bluff rooftop bar. This spot has been a hit since it opened, offering stunning views and a great place for locals and visitors alike to unwind. Along with the rooftop bar, the hotel boasts a fantastic restaurant called Salt + Marrow, making it an attractive spot for both leisure and business travelers.

No Change in Management

After the sale, Greg Greenawalt, the hotel’s general manager, reassured everyone that the Crowne Plaza will continue to operate under its brand name, managed by the Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG). He emphasized that there would be no shakeup in the management team, meaning that guests can expect the same excellent service they have enjoyed since the hotel opened its doors.

A Positive Impact on the Community

Greenawalt has always hailed the Crowne Plaza as a treasured asset to North Augusta. He mentioned that the hotel has made significant contributions to the local economy and tourism industry, bringing visitors who flock to the area for events like the Masters Tournament and the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. For the past few years, the Crowne has been the host hotel for these exciting events, attracting golf fans from all over.

What’s Next for North Augusta?

This news is just the cherry on top for North Augusta! With such a remarkable property changing hands, one can only wonder what plans the Flacks Group has in store for the future. Will there be exciting new developments? Will they enhance the already popular amenities? Only time will tell. But for now, North Augusta residents can feel pleased knowing their community is still on the rise.
