The magic of the holiday season is just around the corner, and North Augusta is buzzing with excitement! On December 3rd, residents will gather for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony, a cherished tradition that brings the community together for a night of twinkling lights and festive cheer. Mark your calendars because the event kicks off at 5 p.m. at Calhoun Park, right in front of the iconic Lookaway Hall!
If you’ve been to the tree lighting before, you know it’s an evening packed with fun and Festivities. The beloved Boy Scouts will once again be on hand to keep the fires burning bright for some delicious marshmallow roasting. Imagine the smell of toasted marshmallows filling the air as families come together to make sweet memories. And if you’re feeling cold, don’t fret! Augusta’s Ubora will be there to serve up some piping hot cocoa to warm your spirits.
As the evening unfolds, get ready to be serenaded by the talented choir from North Augusta Elementary, who will kick off the festivities with cheerful carols. But that’s not all—students from Highland Springs Middle, North Augusta Middle, and Paul Knox Middle will take the stage to show off their musical chops in a series of performances. It truly will be a night of incredible talent and holiday spirit!
And of course, no tree lighting would be complete without a special visit from Santa Claus himself! Kids (and adults too!) will have the chance to chat with jolly old Saint Nick and share their Christmas wish lists. Who knows? You might just inspire him to slip a little something special under the tree this year!
As the evening culminates, it will be the young ones from the Patrick McGahee family who will have the honor of switching on the lights. Talk about a special moment! With a flick of the switch, the holiday lights will illuminate Lookaway Hall, extending down to the 13th Street Bridge, marking the official start of the holiday season in North Augusta. It’s sure to be a sight to see, so make sure to bring your family and friends to soak in the breathtaking view!
For those who can’t make it to the tree lighting, don’t fret! There’s still plenty of holiday fun on the horizon. The annual Christmas Parade is revving up to take place on Sunday, December 8th, at 3 p.m.. It promises to be a delightful display of floats, cheer, and community spirit, ensuring that you can still enjoy the festivities of the season.
So, whether you’re planning to roast marshmallows, enjoy a cup of hot cocoa, or simply marvel at the beauty of the Christmas lights, North Augusta’s Tree Lighting Ceremony is not to be missed. It’s an event that captures the spirit of togetherness and joy that makes this season so special. Come one, come all, and let’s celebrate the magic of the holidays together!
