Great news for the residents of Aiken! A 90-year-old woman named Ethel Atkinson who was reported missing on Tuesday afternoon has been found safe. The local community can breathe a sigh of relief after officials with the Aiken Department of Public Safety confirmed her safe return.
Ethel Atkinson, a beloved member of her community, was last seen on September 24 at 1:30 p.m. on Hayne Avenue in Aiken. At the time she went missing, she was wearing a white shirt, dark pants, slip-on shoes, and a patterned beige hat, which made her easily recognizable.
Atkinson was driving a black 2011 Honda Accord with South Carolina license tag TZR542 and a Columbia dealer’s tag. Her sudden disappearance raised immediate concerns among her family and local authorities. The Aiken Department of Public Safety quickly became involved, emphasizing that Atkinson was classified as an endangered missing person, given her age and the growing worries of her well-being.
