Augusta Animal Services is looking for loving families to step up and take in a dog or cat from December 21st to December 24th. The best part? You can either return the pet after the holiday fun or, if you fall in love (which is highly likely), you can choose to adopt it! Talk about a win-win!
How It Works
Interested families can swing by the shelter between 12 PM and 4 PM to pick up a furry friend. The pets available for this holiday outing are all spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and even microchipped for safety. Families are encouraged to bring their children and existing pets to make sure everyone gets along well before finalizing their holiday buddy.
The program is designed for families who are NOT traveling during the holidays. This way, you can truly enjoy the companionship and excitement a pet brings to the festivities. Plus, if your family has existing pets, they can help pick out their new friend to ensure a cozy match!
Return or Adopt – The Choice is Yours!
After the holiday season wraps up, families can return their pet to the shelter on January 2nd or January 3rd, also between 12 PM and 4 PM. However, there’s a sweet twist to this story! If you’ve formed a bond that you just can’t bear to break, you can adopt the pet permanently. Should you decide to return the pet, the shelter will use your holiday memories and pictures to help find a forever home for them. How’s that for community spirit?
