With a blend of community spirit, creative decorations, and joyful celebrations, these towns have truly embraced the holiday cheer. So, gather your loved ones and get ready for a season filled with fun!
Kick off the celebrations in Salley on December 6th as the town gears up for a delightful evening filled with holiday lights and cheer. Judging will be underway after dark to recognize the community’s “best Christmas yard display,” showcasing the wonderful creativity of the residents. It’s a perfect opportunity to enjoy the beautiful decorations adorning many homes in the area, so put on your coziest sweater and take a leisurely drive!
The very next day, on December 7th, Christmas in Salley is set to kick off in style! Leah Shackleford, a member of the town council, says, “We’re going to start with craft vendors and food vendors around 9 AM. The parade lineup starts at 10, and it will roll through town at 11 AM.” The parade will march from the recycling building down Festival Trail, providing a festive atmosphere that no one should miss.
After the parade, the festivities continue with tree-lighting ceremonies, live music, and plenty of opportunities to grab delicious food from local vendors. “We’re just hoping for a successful event,” Leah adds, highlighting the sense of connection and joy these celebrations bring to the community.
Looking ahead to the following weekend, Wagener will take center stage with its own holiday celebrations starting on December 13th at 5 PM. The excitement begins with a tree-lighting event featuring a petting zoo and charming horse-drawn carriage rides from 5:30 to 7 PM. Everyone’s favorite moment will culminate in the official lighting of the tree just after sunset, creating a magical ambience for all attendees. Plus, a fireworks display will surely dazzle the night sky and bring holiday joy to residents!
On December 14th, festivities will continue with a festive parade that showcases the town’s spirit. Line-ups will begin at 10 AM at Corbett Middle School, followed by the much-anticipated parade start at 11 AM. This year’s theme is “Hometown Holiday,” promising fun and excitement for all ages. Be sure to register for participation—details can be found on the town’s official website.
When the parade wraps up, there’s still plenty more to enjoy. From 10 AM to 1 PM, craft and food vendors will be stationed in the town square, providing local delights. The Wagener Museum will welcome visitors from 1 to 5 PM, offering insights into the rich history of the area, making it a perfect stop for history buffs and curious minds alike.
For those seeking something a bit different, the Eudora Wildlife Safari Park near Salley is offering a treat for families this December with its enchanting “Santa’s Village.” Families can enjoy free admission to the village area on several weekends: December 7-8, 14-15, and 21-22. Activities planned include cookie-decorating, ornament-making, face-painting, and even visits from the Clauses and the Grinch!
