Exciting Holiday Concert Coming to Aiken!

Hello, Aiken! The holiday season is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than with some fantastic live music? Mark your calendars for the highly anticipated Joye to the World! Holiday Concert happening on December 7th at the Etherredge Center!

Weather Update: Perfect Concert Night!

Before we dive into the details of the concert, let’s talk about the weather! This morning starts out a bit cloudy, but don’t worry—the skies are expected to clear up by the afternoon, giving us some delightful partly cloudy skies for the evening. With a high around 55°F and gentle winds from the north-northwest at 5 to 10 mph, it’s shaping up to be a lovely night for a concert. Just remember to bundle up, as the temperature will drop later to a chilly low of 27°F! Widespread frost is likely, so be sure to dress warmly!

Get Ready for an Unforgettable Experience!

Now, let’s talk about the concert itself! Starting at 7:30 p.m., the Joye to the World concert is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy holiday tunes while also supporting incredible talent in the jazz genre. This year’s event will be headlined by the talented Riley Mulherkar, who is not only the Artistic Director of Joye in Aiken but also the mastermind behind the original version of this show created for the annual holiday concert for Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Star-Studded Lineup!

Joining Mulherkar will be Jumaane Smith, an extraordinary trumpeter and vocalist who has spent a whopping 18 years touring with the renowned Michael Bublé. Smith has not only lent his talent to five Grammy-winning records but also graced television stages for Emmy-nominated performances alongside icons like Stevie Wonder. His impressive biography includes performances at the White House and appearances on famous shows like The Tonight Show and Oprah.

But wait, there’s more! We’ll also celebrate the sensational Tyreek McDole, a 24-year-old jazz vocalist who recently clinched the 2023 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, making him only the second male winner in the competition’s twelve-year history. McDole’s rich background also includes an impressive degree in jazz performance from The Oberlin Conservatory of Music and recognition as Lincoln Center’s Outstanding Vocalist in 2018.
