Aiken Unites to Honor First Responders with Cowboy Show and Cookout Fundraiser

Aiken Brings Community Together for First Responders and a Great Cause

In the charming city of Aiken, something special is brewing! Local businesses are stepping up in a big way to show appreciation for the brave men and women who keep our community safe—our first responders. Recently, SRP Federal Credit Union and Stokes-Hodges joined forces to donate $1,000 each to support an uplifting event that promises to bring joy and community spirit.

Supporting Our Heroes

On October 18, representatives from both organizations proudly presented checks to help fund tickets for Aiken County’s first responders to attend The Cowboy Show and Cookout. This exciting event will take place on November 2, from noon to 4 p.m. at Great Oak Equine Assisted Programs, located at 1123 Edgefield Highway.

The Cowboy Show and Cookout isn’t just any ordinary fundraiser; it’s a chance for our first responders to take a well-deserved break! The money raised will directly benefit Great Oak’s scholarship fund, providing necessary financial support for their equine-assisted activities aimed at empowering individuals with emotional, cognitive, and physical disabilities.

Fun for Everyone

Attendees can look forward to an afternoon filled with fun and festivities. The event will feature live demonstrations from talented teams including the Grassroots Vaulting Team, Aiken Youth Polo Team, Willis Ranch Junior Rodeo Team, and the Aiken Volunteer Mounted Unit. Plus, local entertainment will keep spirits high, with performances from Rob West and the Great Oak Rodeo Riders.

And if that isn’t enough to entice you, be on the lookout for Davis Wash, Miss South Carolina 2024, who will also be making an appearance. To top things off, delicious food will be provided by some of our local favorites like The Pot Smoker BBQ, MotorKeg, and The Classic Cone. Tickets are going fast, so make sure to grab yours soon!
