Aiken Welcomes Fall with Festivities, History, and Community Spirit

Aiken: A Cozy Community Ready for Fall Fun!

Good morning, Aiken! As we step into a beautiful fall day, it looks like we’re in for some pleasant weather. Expect areas of fog early in the day, but don’t worry— by this afternoon, it’ll clear up into a lovely partly cloudy sky with highs reaching around 80°F. A gentle breeze from the east-southeast at 5 to 10 mph will keep everything pretty comfortable. And as night falls, temperatures will dip to a cozy 58°F. How perfect for indulging in fall festivities!

Bridge Lovers Unite!

For those who enjoy a good game of cards, the Aiken Bridge Club welcomes players of all levels. Join them at the Lessie B. Price Aiken Senior and Youth Center every Monday and Wednesday at 1 p.m. What’s even better? Free bridge lessons start at 11:30 a.m. for anyone looking to sharpen their skills! If you have questions or want more details, shoot them an email at AikenBridgeClub@gmail.com.

Explore Aiken’s History!

If you’re a history buff or just looking for something interesting to do, make sure to visit the Savannah River Site Museum. Open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, this gem on 224 Laurens St. S.W. features fascinating exhibits related to the Cold War. Best of all, it’s free admission! Give them a call at 803-648-1437 for more info.

Trick-or-Treating for Kids!

As Halloween approaches, the community is buzzing with excitement! The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is organizing a trick-or-treat event on Thursday, October 31, from 3-5 p.m. Children aged from infants to 12 years are welcome to dress up and collect some sweet treats. Employees will be dressed in costumes, ready to create a magical atmosphere!

And that’s not all folks! There’s a Spooktacular Trick-or-Treat Event happening at the Aiken County Recreation Center from 4-6 p.m.. It promises to be a delight, with candy and surprises galore until supplies run out!

Upcoming Events You Won’t Want to Miss!

Looking for more fall fun? Mark your calendars for Applefest. Taking place on November 1 and 2 at St. John’s Methodist Church, this event starts with a preview party on Friday evening, followed by a full day of festivities Saturday, including free admission and delicious apple-themed goodies.

And if you’re in the mood for some music, don’t miss the 4 Cats in the Doghouse, who play jazz every Thursday evening at The Willcox. Grab your friends and enjoy a delightful night of tunes!

Foodies, Rejoice!

Attention food lovers! The 21st Annual Chef’s Extravaganza is happening on Saturday, November 2 at Palmetto Terrace Ballroom. This year’s theme is a flavorful journey to North Africa—tickets are $125 per person, so be sure to reserve your spot!
