Exciting Events Coming Up in Aiken!

Aiken is buzzing with activities and events, and you won’t want to miss a single one! From bingo nights to engaging discussions, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this November.

Let’s Go Bingo!

If you’re looking for a fun way to spend your Monday evenings, Let’s Go Bingo at the Aiken Senior Life Services is the place to be! Every Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m., this friendly bingo game draws in folks looking for some good old-fashioned fun. There’s a $5 cover charge, and game cards cost either $1 each or up to $25 for multiple cards. It’s a great time, and chances are you’ll leave with a prize or two! Let’s Talk About It

Are you a book lover? Then the Let’s Talk About Discussion series at the Aiken County Public Library, located at 314 Chesterfield St. S.W., is just for you! Running through March 25, the series dives into Southern Novels on the Page and Screen. This month’s spotlight is on The Color Purple by Alice Walker. The movie adaptation will be screened on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 16 at 12:30 p.m.. A discussion led by Dr. Matt Miller will happen on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 6:30 p.m.. It’s free and was made possible through a grant from the S.C. Humanities.

Crafts and Creativity!

If you’re feeling crafty, The Art of Life & Your Family Tree workshop is taking place at the Smith-Hazel Recreation Center on Tuesday, Nov. 12-14 from 2 to 4 p.m.. Participants will create a stunning canvas collage of their life and family tree! All supplies will be provided, so just bring along 10-15 photocopies of family photos. It’s a lovely way to express your creativity, and the best part? It’s free for ages 20 and up! Be sure to register online!

Calling All Newcomers!

New to Aiken? Join the Aiken Newcomers’ Club on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at Newberry Hall. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. with the meeting starting at 10:15 a.m. This month, author David Wolman will be the guest speaker. Reservations are required for this event, with a cost of $25 payable at the door.

Join the Musical Fun

Calling all music enthusiasts! The Mountain Dulcimers of Aiken will meet at Living Hope Fellowship Church on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. This gathering welcomes players of all levels—whether you’re a pro or a newbie just learning the ropes!

Support and Recovery

There are numerous support groups around Aiken, tailored to different needs. The Awesome Aiken Al-Anon group meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at First Christian Church. Meanwhile, Nar-Anon, designed for families and friends of those struggling with addiction, meets Tuesday evenings as well. And if you’re seeking a 12-step recovery option, Celebrate Recovery meets at Cedar Creek Church every Tuesday at 7 p.m. You’re not alone in this journey!

Mark Your Calendars for the Holidays

As the holidays approach, two special events are on the horizon! The Holiday Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 16 will feature a variety of crafts, art, and food vendors at the Gregg Park Civic Center. It’s the perfect chance to find unique gifts and enjoy delicious goodies! Following that, the Vigil for Peace and Nonviolence will take place across from the Fresh Market on Monday, Nov. 18 from 4-5 p.m. This event promises a heartfelt gathering to advocate for peace.

Stay Active & Engaged!

The Savannah River Site Museum is a fantastic spot to learn more about the Cold War, open Wednesday through Saturday, with free admission. And for a little fun in the outdoors, consider the upcoming Edisto River Sweep cleanup on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Aiken State Park. Volunteer and make a difference in your community!
