On Monday, August 12, the American Sewing Guild, also known as the Material Girls, will hold a meeting at 10 a.m. in the community room of St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church. The focus will be on creating Molas, an art form practiced by the Kuna natives of Panama. Anyone interested in sewing is welcome to join. The Friends of the Aiken County Historical Museum will kick off its Summer Lecture Series on the same day at 6 p.m.. Tickets are priced at $30 and include a meal. Interested attendees can purchase tickets through the museum’s website.
A unique opportunity awaits residents on Wednesday, August 14, as they can meet the surgeons using the da Vinci surgical robot at an event taking place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Reserve Club at Woodside. This technology promises reduced recovery times and less pain during recovery. Another session will follow on Thursday, August 15, at the Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

Then, on Friday, a Beginning Jewelry Making Class where participants will craft earrings and bracelets will be held from 1-4 p.m., also for $65.
Thursdays will continue to feature live music in Aiken. 4 Cats in the Doghouse will play jazz from 7-9 p.m. at The Willcox. This lively evening is sure to enhance your week with good tunes and great company.
