If you’re in North Augusta, mark your calendars for a delightful evening on September 28th. The city is hosting its inaugural “Taste in the Tunnel” event, and it promises to be a fantastic celebration of local art, food, and community spirit. This event will take place at the recently completed Center Street tunnel, which features a stunning mural by local artist Jason Craig.
The mural, which stretches end to end within the tunnel, was unveiled in mid-June, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on June 25th to celebrate its completion. Since then, the mural has become a beloved landmark and a symbol of North Augusta’s growing commitment to public art.
Avery Spears-Mahoney, executive director for North Augusta Forward, expressed her excitement about the upcoming event. “We’re inviting everyone to come out, enjoy the mural, taste some great food, listen to live music, and catch a bit of college football on our big screen,” she said. Sounds like a perfect way to kick off the weekend!
So, what can you expect at the “Taste in the Tunnel”? Here’s all the important info:
The ticket price includes mouthwatering offerings like an oyster roast provided by JC’s Seafood and a delicious charcuterie spread from The Grove. Additionally, local favorite Joe Stevenson will be performing live music to keep the vibe upbeat and lively!
To make things even more exciting, college football will be shown on the Gameday Trailer sponsored by Austin Taylor Insurance. It’s the perfect blend of food and fun!
Something to keep in mind—North Augusta Forward will also announce its next public art initiative during the event, making it an excellent opportunity to stay in the loop on future community projects. If you’re planning to attend, be sure to get your tickets by September 24th to guarantee a spot.
And just a heads-up: If rain happens to make an appearance, don’t worry! The event will be rescheduled, so check North Augusta Forward’s Facebook page for the latest updates.
This event comes shortly after North Augusta Forward celebrated five successful years of hosting Third Thursdays in downtown North Augusta. Spears-Mahoney reminisced, “It certainly does not feel like it was five years ago when I sat with a handful of downtown business owners and began planning Third Thursday.”
Since then, the organization has expanded its reach with other wonderful community events, like Spring Fest, Tinseltown Forest, and the Cocoa Cookie Crawl during the city’s annual tree lighting. These festivities aim to enhance engagement and support local businesses, which are vital to the community’s health.
So, if you’re looking for a fantastic evening filled with art, delicious food, and a sense of community, make sure to grab your tickets for the “Taste in the Tunnel”. Let’s cherish and celebrate what makes North Augusta so special together!
