This weekend in Summerville promises to be a tapestry of fun, community spirit, and local culture with events lined up that cater to all interests. So, grab your family and friends, and don’t miss out on the exciting happenings!
Calling all beer lovers and food enthusiasts! The 10th annual Summerville Rotary Oktoberfest is set to take place on Saturday, October 5, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Hutchinson Square in downtown Summerville.
This family-friendly event will blend the best of German culture with the warm hospitality that Summerville is known for. You can expect a day filled with live music, delicious food vendors, and, of course, a selection of craft beers to enjoy. Whether you’re a fan of traditional bratwurst or just looking to enjoy some time with the family, this festivity is a must-visit this October!
If you’re a fan of comic books or children’s literature, don’t miss An Evening with Jeffrey Brown on Friday, October 4, at the Book Tavern in Augusta. The event kicks off at 7 p.m., where you can meet the cartoonist and author of acclaimed works like Jedi Academy and Lucy & Andy Neanderthal. This will be a great opportunity to hear about Jeffrey’s creative journey and possibly snag a signed copy of his latest book!
This weekend also sees a number of events aimed at giving back to the community. A free hurricane relief event is happening on Saturday at Electric Eats starting at 6 p.m.. Enjoy live music from JoJo Hermann, Sam Holt, The Mason Jars, and The Magnificent Jam Revival while you contribute to a great cause. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable items or make a donation to the Kisner Foundation Hurricane Relief Fund at their official site. Your contribution can make a difference!
Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 5, as the CSRA Parkinson Support Group holds its 25th annual POP Walk for the People of Parkinson’s fundraiser at First Baptist Church in Augusta. Registration opens at 9 a.m. followed by the walk at 10 a.m.. This walk not only raises awareness for Parkinson’s but allows participants to show their support for those affected by the disease. Donations are appreciated, and those who raise $25 or more will get a special POP Walk T-shirt.
While many events are set to go, it’s important to note that some planned activities have been postponed. The Kisner Foundation’s Southern Strings Festival has been rescheduled for 2025. If you purchased tickets, you can use them for next year’s event or opt for a refund. Meanwhile, the Aiken Downtown Development Association’s Oktoberfest has been canceled, so please check their site for updates on future events.
Whether you’re planning to eat, drink, walk, or simply enjoy some live entertainment, this weekend in Summerville is all about coming together as a community. So whether you’re making plans for Oktoberfest or chatting with Jeffrey Brown, you’re sure to find something that’ll bring a smile to your face. And remember, autumn in Summerville is absolutely lovely—don’t forget to take a moment to soak it all in!
