Carla Mercer, a longtime Augusta resident, decided to switch things up this year. “I’ve always waited until election day,” she said. “But, I said today if they were going to be open on Saturday. When I found out, I said I’m going to do it today and I’m glad I did it.”
Four locations around Augusta-Richmond County are open for early voting, ensuring accessibility for voters. Through next week, these polling spots will welcome people from Monday, October 21, to Saturday, October 26, between 8:30 AM and 6:00 PM.
Flexible Voting for Busy Schedules

Debra Riles Williams, another Augusta local, highlighted the importance of weekend voting. “Having the opportunity to vote on Saturday opens it up for people who do work Monday through Friday, like myself,” she explained. “It’s important to our community that we have a place like this that’s open on Saturdays, that’s in our neighborhoods. And it shows our young people that regardless of school or jobs, you can still come and vote.”

Christopher Mulliens, running for School Board District 5, remarked on the importance of down-ballot voting. “We have a lot riding locally,” he noted. “I think people have to understand that we have to start voting all the way down the ballot to make sure that we are impacted how we need to be impacted.”
