Coroner releases name of man found dead on Walton Way

AUGUSTA, Ga. – New information has been revealed about an ongoing investigation into a suspicious death that occurred on Walton Way in Augusta, authorities said on Wednesday. Disturbingly, this was not the only death incident reported in the city on the same day.

Details about the Body Found

At 3:42 p.m. on Tuesday, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a body discovered in the car park at 1122 Walton Way. The body had reportedly been lying there for several days before detection, Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen shared in his statement.

The authorities identified the deceased as Lee Marvin Johnson, 58, who did not have a permanent residence. An autopsy is planned to establish the cause of death.

Other Deaths Recorded on the Same Day

In another distressing incident on Tuesday, a man was found dead outside a townhouse on the 1800 block of Warren Street. Identified as Ceon Ulmer, 38, he had suffered at least one gunshot wound, with the discovery made around the early hours of 5:11 a.m.

In an unrelated incident, an inmate at the Washington State Prison in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) was reported dead on Monday. The Georgia Department of Corrections is investigating the matter.

Safety and Investigations

The back-to-back deaths point toward a disturbing trend of violence and unsafety in Augusta, raising questions about the adequacy of current crime prevention measures.
