Edgefield County, SC – A fiery collision on November 10th has left the community in shock after an accident between two vehicles resulted in the untimely death of a local woman. The crash occurred around 3:35 p.m. on Plum Branch Road, just near the intersection with Morgan Busey Road.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Gary Miller, the incident began when the driver of a 2004 Toyota Sienna van failed to stop at a stop sign. This careless move led to a critical collision with a 2003 Toyota Camry. The consequences were severe, sending a ripple of despair throughout the small community.
Sadly, the accident resulted in one fatality, as Rupal Patel, 52, from Aiken, was pronounced dead at the scene. This heartbreaking news has struck a chord with residents in Aiken, who remember Patel not only for her warmth but also as a member of the community.
The incident didn’t stop there; it also left eleven others injured. Both the driver and two passengers of the Camry were promptly transported to a local hospital, according to Trooper Miller. The Sienna was carrying seven passengers, all of whom were also taken to the hospital for treatment. Thankfully, there are no reports of life-threatening injuries among the injured.
This tragic event has prompted reactions from many residents who have expressed their disbelief over the accident. Local community leaders are rallying to extend their condolences to Patel’s family and to support those who were injured.
Local officials are reminding drivers in the area to be extra cautious, especially as the holiday season approaches and traffic tends to increase. “It’s vital that we all pay attention to the roads and the signs,” said a community leader. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to those impacted by this severe accident.”
As if the situation isn’t heavy enough, the forecast is looking a bit dreary as well. With periods of rain expected today, temperatures will hover around a high of 57°F. Winds are coming from the ENE at 10 to 15 mph, and there is a whopping 90% chance of rain, accumulating up to a quarter of an inch. So make sure to grab your umbrellas if you head out! Tonight, expect temperatures to drop to a chilly low of 44°F with winds calming down a bit from the NNW at 5 to 10 mph.
In light of this tragic event, authorities are urging everyone to practice safe driving habits and always obey traffic regulations. Remember to respect stop signs and keep an eye out for other drivers. It only takes a moment of inattention for a split second to change lives forever.
The community in Aiken is resilient, and we will surely come together to support those affected during this difficult time. Let’s keep Rupal Patel’s family and friends in our thoughts, and let’s strive for safer roads as we move forward.
