Summer Events Calendar Unveiled for Augusta: July, August & September Set to Impress

July, August, & September Packed with Eventful Activities in Augusta

Augusta residents are in for a treat this summer as our bustling city unfolds a host of public hearings, exciting social meetups, and dedicated sporting events. Here’s a complete rundown of all the activities that will be happening in our city for the next few months.

Property Tax, Millage Rate Hearings, and Public Meetings

Harlem City Council will convene a property tax hearing on July 15 and July 18 at the Public Safety Headquarters starting at 6 p.m. Columbia County Board of Elections will hold a meeting at the Board of Elections office on July 16. That same day, the Columbia County Board of Commissioners will hold their millage rate hearing and a regular meeting at the Evans Government Center Complex.

July 23 will see Columbia County committees discussing various matters from 8:30 a.m. at the Evans Government Center complex, followed by a public hearing on the millage rate. The Columbia County Board of Education will meet that same day at their office on Columbia Road.

Late summer will feature The Augusta Commission discussing various city issues in a number of meetings in July and August. The Richmond County Board of Education will also have its board and committee meeting in July.

Enriching Lectures and Interactive Workshops

Augusta Museum’s Brown Bag History Series will host a lecture on July 17 by Ellen Neal Pruitt titled ‘How Architecture Records History.’ This lecture will offer attendees a sneak peek into the past and how architecture can preserve cultural history.

The University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government will guide The Augusta Commission in a work session, contemplating the potential establishment of a Charter Review Committee. Also, don’t miss the much-awaited ‘Christmas in July’ summer sale at Sacred Heart Cultural Center happening on July 25.

Exciting Entertainment and Athletic Events

Patrons of comedy will be thrilled with Joe Gatto’s performance at the Columbia County Performing Arts Center on Sept. 28. Known for his roles in hit TV shows “Impractical Jokers” and “The Misery Index,” his show invites a suggested age limit of 16+.

September 29 will witness the much-anticipated Ironman 70.3 Augusta event. Fitness enthusiasts, athletes, and spectators alike are encouraged to participate or cheer the participants in this exciting triathlon. The start of October will see Shrek the Musical light up the stage at the Columbia County Performing Arts Center.

The City of Grovetown Mayor Gary Jones is also gearing up for a joint Town Hall with Columbia County District 4 Commissioner Alison Couch on July 25 at the Council Chambers. Meanwhile, athletes and fitness enthusiasts can look forward to the Color Run 5k at Barton Field in mid-August.
