Augusta’s Weekly Restaurant Health Scores: Highlights and Lowlights

The Weekly Health Score Rundown in Augusta

Hey there, Augusta! It’s that fun time of the week again when we dive into the world of local dining and uncover the health scores of restaurants around Richmond, Columbia, and Aiken counties. Health inspections are important to keep our food safe and our stomachs happy, so let’s break down the latest scores and what they mean. Buckle up!

Not So Bright Ratings

This week, we had a couple of restaurants that didn’t quite make the cut when it comes to hygiene. The first one on our list is the Sunrise Grill located on East Martintown Road in North Augusta, which bagged a score of 72. Ouch! Health inspectors found evidence of rodent droppings, dead insects, and some rather dirty floors. That’s definitely a place we need to keep an eye on!

Next up is Persis Indian Restaurant and Bar on Washington Road in Augusta, with a score of 80. The culprits for this lower score included sauces left uncovered, expired food items lurking in the kitchen, and a bit of live roach activity. Yikes! It sounds like some cleanup is in order there as well.

Also scoring an 80 was Wasabi Express, also on Washington Road in Augusta. The health inspection flagged issues like brown build-up in the ice machine, food being kept at improper temperatures, and unlabeled fish. Let’s hope they get that straightened out!

Shining Stars of the Week

Now, onto the bright side! There’s a delightful lineup of restaurants scoring a perfect 100 this week, and we love to see it! Here are the places that impressed the inspectors:

  • Bojangles on Wrightsboro Road, Augusta
  • Starbucks on Wrightsboro Road, Augusta
  • Chick-fil-A on Washington Road, Augusta
  • KFC on Walton Way, Augusta
  • Starbucks on Cabela Drive, Augusta
  • Great Wall on Furys Ferry Road, Martinez
  • Whipped Creamery on Oxbow Drive, Grovetown
  • Five Guys on Washington Road, Evans
  • Tropical Smoothie on Steiner Way, Grovetown
  • McDonald’s on Jefferson Davis Highway, North Augusta

These eateries are setting the bar high with their cleanliness and food safety standards. What a relief to know we have plenty of delicious options that are also keeping things sanitary!

Understanding the Scores

As a reminder, these health scores are based on the inspections carried out from November 4th through the 8th. The ratings reflect the conditions at the time of the inspection, so they can change. After all, restaurants can always improve their hygiene practices, and we hope that those who received lower scores will take action!

As you venture out to enjoy a meal, make sure you keep these scores in mind. Whether you fancy a hot cup of coffee or crave some comfort food, Augusta has plenty of places to satisfy your taste buds—just be sure to pick one with a shining health score!

Until next time, keep eating well and supporting our local businesses!
