This will be a peak time for outdoor entertainment, which the Augusta area will have plenty to offer from festivals and farmers markets to outdoor concerts and food trucks. But the summer in Georgia is bound to get pretty hot, which is why there is also all kinds of indoor entertainment – free or discounted movie nights, and a range of shows. Camp Soul City returns 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 13, highlighting downtown Augusta businesses with a day of fun and shopping. “Campers” will be given a map and take it to the participating businesses which will each have merit badges you can earn by completing some activities. Some of the participating businesses and their activities include Augusta & Co: Edible campfire building, The Book Tavern: Collage your own bookmark, FIELD: DIY bug spray, Augusta Candle Co: Citronella candle making, and Tiffinie Bleu Bridal: Floral workshop. Admission is free.
Peach Festival is 10 a.m. July 13 at Cold Creek Nurseries in Aiken. There will be live music, food trucks, kid-friendly activities, peach-themed treats, and adoptable puppies and kittens. Another dog-friendly event is AARP Georgia’s PAWS for Cause which will have free food, games, and dog treats.
For ones looking for indoor entertainment, Augusta has a lot to offer. “Tipsy Spelling B-E-E: Sevenf Edition” is an interesting event where participants have to spell a word after rounds of drinks. “The Art of the Rings – The Art Towers,” an art show inspired by the Lord of the Rings that runs through Aug. 2 at Le Chat Noir. Other than that, Casino Night is a perfect place for gaming enthusiasts. With more than $2,000 worth of prizes available, the players can also enjoy appetizers, a cash bar, and photo ops.
Columbia County Library’s Summer Movie Series is every Wednesday at 2 p.m. Also, Georgia Theatre Company’s Summer Kids Show Series will screen a family-friendly movie every Tuesday and Thursday, with $2 tickets as well beverages, M&M’s, and popcorn for $2 each. Additionally, Regal Summer Movie Express is back, and both the Regal Augusta Exchange and Regal Aiken Mall are participating. Every Tuesday and Wednesday, a pair of family-friendly movies will be screened at 11 a.m. with $1 tickets. And that’s not it. Augusta’s Movies on the Green events and “Movies at the Miller” events will make sure you don’t miss out on the latest movies this summer.
There are numerous events planned to distribute school supplies including Hawk Law Group’s Book Bag Bash, Cumberland AME’s Back-to-School Bash, Faith Seed Harvest’s Back-to-School Bash, North Aiken Elementary’s Back-to-School Bash, RISE Augusta’s Back-to-School Bash, Impact Church’s “Back 2 School Bash!”, and The Path Worship Center’s Back-to-School Party. These events will not only distribute school supplies but also feature fun activities for families to enjoy.
