As the Chairman of Trustees at Good Samaritan, Carmen Battle, expressed, this initiative came just at the right moment, aiming to ease some of the burdens many are facing. “People were devastated in a lot of ways, a lot of aspects and their lives were altered,” Battle shared. The reality is that many families are still dealing with the aftermath of the storm, and with many refrigeration systems down due to power outages, the fresh supply of food is a crucial step towards rebuilding their lives.

The community effort didn’t stop at just produce. In addition to the 5,000 boxes of fruits and vegetables, the food drive also included a whopping 78,000 pounds of ground beef patties, graciously donated by FPL Food, a local business based in Augusta.
