A community is left in shock after a tragic accident in Monetta, Aiken County, took the life of 28-year-old Tristin Hill. The unfortunate incident unfolded on Thursday, December 19, around 2:30 p.m. on Old Shoals Road.
According to reports, Hill was riding a Bombardier quad runner ATV heading south when he apparently lost control of the vehicle. This caused him to be violently ejected onto the roadway. Shortly after the crash, at approximately 2:41 p.m., troopers from the South Carolina Highway Patrol rushed to the scene.
Emergency responders quickly assessed the situation and made the tough decision to airlift Hill to Wellstar MCG, where he battled severe injuries. Unfortunately, he succumbed to those injuries just a few hours later, at 5:55 p.m.
Tristin Hill was not just a name; he was a familiar face in the Monetta community. A lifelong resident of the Aiken area, Hill was a maintenance technician at Michelin Tires. Many knew him from his days growing up in the area and his time at Silver Bluff High School, where he made lasting friendships.
Beyond work and school, Hill was an active member of the local community, often seen at Grace Presbyterian Church. He was passionate about the great outdoors, indulging in hunting, fishing, and, of course, riding four-wheelers, activities that brought him joy and allowed him to connect with nature.
The unfortunate crash has raised questions, and an investigation is currently underway. Authorities are looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident, and toxicology results are pending to provide further clarity. As the family and community process this sudden loss, they are also hoping for answers regarding what went wrong that fateful afternoon.
As news of Hill’s passing spread, many have shared their shock and heartbreak on social media. Friends and family remember him fondly for his vibrant personality, his love for adventure, and his kind spirit. He has left a profound impact on everyone who knew him, making the loss even more acutely felt.
In honor of Tristin Hill’s life, a graveside service has been scheduled for 11 a.m. on Monday at Southlawn Cemetery. The Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center is diligently handling the funeral arrangements, ensuring that he receives the farewell he deserves.
This unfortunate incident reminds us all of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing our loved ones. As the Monetta community rallies together to support Hill’s family during this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt condolences to all who knew and loved him.
