This morning started off a tad foggy here in Aiken, but don’t let that dampen your spirits! As the day unfolds, we can expect it to be a lovely afternoon that’s partly cloudy with temperatures climbing up to a warm 81 degrees Fahrenheit. If you’re planning to step outside, remember the weather is going to feel cozy, just right for a stroll or running errands!
Speaking of running errands, there’s something exciting happening at the Shoppes on Richland that car owners in Aiken will not want to miss. A Mavis Tires & Brakes service center is currently under construction in this bustling shopping area. If you’re not familiar, Mavis is a well-respected name in tire and vehicle maintenance services. The building is taking shape thanks to the diligent work of DooleyMack Constructors, the general contractor overseeing the project.
Mavis Tires & Brakes has been around for a while now. It was established back in 1972 by founders Marion and Victor Sorbaro in Millwood, New York. Interestingly enough, the company has roots that can be traced all the way back to 1949. These days, Mavis is much more than just a tire shop; they offer a range of repair and maintenance services to keep your vehicle in top shape. It’s a one-stop shop for everything from tire installation to brake checks!
For those of you who can’t wait for the new location to open, there’s currently a Mavis service center already operating on Aiken’s Southside at 2300 Whiskey Road. In the past, that site was known as an NTB (National Tire and Battery) service center. After an acquisition in 2023, which saw Mavis acquire a whopping 392 NTB locations and 203 Tire Kingdom stores from the TBC Corporation, it’s clear that Mavis is expanding! The financial terms of this deal were not disclosed, but it definitely boosted the number of Mavis locations to around 2,000 nationwide. That’s a considerable leap for the company!
As for the new Mavis Tires & Brakes service center, it will conveniently be located in the lively Shoppes on Richland complex on Richland Avenue West near University Parkway. This shopping hub is already home to familiar spots like Walmart Supercenter, Dollar Tree, Tokyo Grill, Ferrando’s, and Maurices. So, popping in for a new set of tires after doing some shopping will be easy-peasy!
While no definitive opening date for the new Mavis service center has been announced yet, the construction is certainly buzzing along. This addition will not only provide Aiken residents with more convenient access to tire and brake services, but it also signifies the growth and vitality of our local business scene.
So, keep your eyes peeled as the construction continues, and stay tuned for updates. If you need a service center soon, don’t forget about the existing Mavis location on Whiskey Road in the meantime. It’s always good to know there’s a reliable place to take care of our vehicles so we can keep cruising around Aiken comfortably!
