Aiken Hosts a Variety of Events This Week

In the charming city of Aiken, residents are gearing up for an exciting week filled with events that cater to all interests. Thursday, August 8

The Aiken County Board of Disabilities will hold a meeting at 5:30 p.m. at 105 Lancaster St. S.W. This gathering is a significant opportunity for community members to engage with board members and discuss important issues surrounding disabilities in the area. On Friday, a Hopelands and Rye Patch History Tour will take place at 11 a.m.. This free event is open to the public and will start at the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum, located at 135 Dupree Place. It’s a great opportunity to learn about the local history and appreciate the beautiful surroundings.

Saturday, August 10

This Saturday offers plenty to do for families and individuals alike. The Aiken County Historical Museum is hosting a Family Fun Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This free event will highlight how various farm products are transformed into usable goods, including fun activities and demonstrations for all ages.

Meanwhile, a Back to School Vendor Festival will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Boondock Farm in Jackson. Attendees can look forward to farmers, artists, live music, and tasty food trucks, creating a lively atmosphere for everyone.

Later in the evening, music lovers will want to check out the Aiken Music Fest at Highfields Event Center, with gates opening at 6 p.m.. The event will feature performances by Sam Burchfield & The Scoundrels, along with local acts Mamie Lew and Victoria Camp. Tickets are priced at just $15, and there will be food trucks and activities for kids.

Sunday, August 11

For those involved in sports, registration is now open for the Aiken County Lacrosse League, which runs until August 15. This league is available to boys and girls aged 7-15 with a registration fee of $30 per child. Games will begin in September at Boyd Pond Park. On August 13, the Aiken County Public Library will host a Tween and Teen Painting event, allowing young creatives to express their artistic sides from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Snacks will also be provided. Registration is required and can be completed by calling the library.
