For those eager to cast their votes, it’s essential to keep a keen eye on registration deadlines. Mark your calendar: October 4 is the last day to register to vote in person!
If you’re wondering whether you’re already registered, it’s super simple to check your status. Head over to SCVotes.gov and find the “Check My Voter Registration” option under the “Voters” tab. Just select Aiken County, input your name, birthdate, and the last four digits of your Social Security number, and you’ll find your voter registration info in a jiffy! If you’re new to Aiken County or haven’t voted in a while, you’ll want to make sure you register. You’ve got options to register online, in person, or even by email, fax, or mail. For online registration, visit SCVotes.gov, click “Register to Vote,” and then hit that “Register Online” button. Just keep in mind that you’ll need a driver’s license or state ID in hand.
For those who prefer the in-person method, swing by the Aiken County election office located on the first floor of the Aiken County Government Center at 1930 University Parkway. Remember, the in-person registration deadline is 5 p.m. on October 4.
If mailing is more your style, just download the registration form from SCVotes.gov and send it to P.O. Box 3127, Aiken SC 29802. Make sure your envelope is postmarked by October 7.
After you’ve registered, it’s a great idea to check out a preview of your ballot. You can navigate back to SCVotes.gov and select “Get My Sample Ballot” under the “Voters” tab. Again, you’ll need to enter your personal details to see what choices will be lined up for you!
On voting day, or during early voting, don’t forget to bring a valid ID. This could be your driver’s license, military ID, or any state-issued identification. Not sure where your polling place is? No problem! You can find that info on your sample ballot or by checking your registration status.
South Carolinians have a few ways to vote: you can show up in person on Election Day, take advantage of early voting, or opt for absentee voting by mail. Early voting in Aiken County runs from October 21 to November 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.. There are several locations across the county where you can cast your ballot, including the election office and local community centers.
Once you arrive at your voting site, after showing your identification and confirming your registration, you’ll receive a paper ballot and brief instructions from a poll worker. Follow the prompts on the voting machine, double-check your choices, and then slide your ballot into the scanner. Don’t forget to snag your “I Voted” sticker before you head out!
