Greetings, beautiful people of Aiken! As we enter a new week, there’s an abundance of activities and events happening in our lovely city. Whether you’re interested in community support, leisure activities, or enriching your mind, there’s something for everyone. Let’s dive into the highlights of what’s on the calendar this week!

Women Veterans VA Claims Clinic

First off, for our brave women veterans, there’s a VA Claims Clinic taking place today, November 4. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., head over to the Sandlapper Room at the Aiken County Government Center, located at 1930 University Parkway. This is a great opportunity to seek assistance with your VA claims! Vigil for Peace and Nonviolence

Later today, join the Aiken Women In Black and Moms Demand Action for a special Vigil for Peace and Nonviolence. This event will occur from 4 to 5 p.m. on Whiskey Road, right across from The Fresh Market. Everyone is invited—men, women, and children are all welcome to participate. Music and Fun This Evening

For those looking for some entertainment, the Savannah River Stringband will host a music jam at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church on 2724 Whiskey Road. Plus, don’t miss Let’s Go Bingo from 6 to 8 p.m. at Aiken Senior Life Services. There’s a mere $5 cover charge, with game cards costing anywhere from $1 to $25. Living, Loving, Lifelong Learning Lecture

Tomorrow, November 5, mark your calendar for the 4L: Living, Loving, Lifelong Learning Series lecture, which will kick off at 11 a.m. at the Lessie B. Price Aiken Senior & Youth Center. The topic? Medicare 101: Simplifying Medicaid and Veteran Benefits. The fee is $5, and registration is required. To sign up, call 803-643-2181.

Support Groups Throughout the Week

If you’re in need of support, there are several groups meeting throughout the week. Awesome Aiken Al-Anon meets Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. at First Christian Church. Meanwhile, Nar-Anon Aiken For Comfort Family Group gathers on Tuesdays in a conference room at St. John’s Methodist Church at the same time. Celebrate Recovery also meets on Tuesdays at Cedar Creek Church, starting at 7 p.m. These groups offer a safe environment for sharing and healing.

Bridge and Art Events

If you’re a bridge enthusiast, be sure to attend the ACBL Sectional Bridge Game on Mondays and Wednesdays at 1 p.m. at the Lessie B. Price Aiken Senior and Youth Center. A free bridge lesson kicks off at 11:30 a.m. for those looking to learn! And if you’re passionate about creativity, join us for Coloring for Grownups on Thursdays from 2-4 p.m. at the Aiken County Public Library. Bring your coloring supplies and enjoy some refreshments while you color away!

Jazz Nights and More

Jazz lovers, you won’t want to miss 4 Cats in the Doghouse performing every Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Willcox. Swing by and enjoy some smooth tunes in good company!

Visit the Savannah River Site Museum

Don’t forget to visit the Savannah River Site Museum. Open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday through Saturday, this museum offers engaging exhibits focused on the Savannah River Site and the Cold War with free admission.
