Vibrant Farm Experience

Exciting New Agritourism Park Opens in Augusta, GA

Augusta, Georgia, is about to become the center of fun and education with the grand opening of Sara’s Farm Adventure, set to launch on September 19th. This new agritourism park promises a delightful mix of entertainment, education, and community spirit, and it’s all happening in nearby Edgefield County.

Connecting Community and Agriculture

At the heart of this venture is Kay Wiley Kaltz, the marketing specialist for Sara’s Farm Adventure. Excitement radiates from her as she explains what visitors can expect. “This place is all about fun, yes, but it’s also about education,” she emphasizes. “We are passionate about advocating for agriculture in our children and youth here in Edgefield County.”

The park is designed to bridge the gap between children and their families while showcasing important agricultural practices, like peach production and pumpkin growing. Families will have the chance to learn about different fruits and vegetables in an engaging way. One attraction even features a combine slide that includes educational elements, making learning delightful for children.

A Place for All Ages

Sara’s Farm Adventure isn’t just about chalkboards and classrooms. The park offers field trips on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, giving students a firsthand look at agricultural production. Imagine walking through rows of peach trees and other vibrant crops, soaking in the wonders of the farm! In the coming years, guests can also enjoy “You Pick” opportunities, further connecting them to the farming experience.

Opening Day Extravaganza

What’s on the agenda for opening day? Kay is buzzing with enthusiasm as she outlines the festivities. “We have tons of events planned for the opening weekend. You can look forward to a Cody Webb concert, a ticket stop with Kicks 99 for their guitar pool, face painting, and so much more!” It sounds like a perfect way for families to spend time together, enjoy some live music, and immerse themselves in fall fun.

The entry fee is quite reasonable at $19.99, with an additional charge for the park’s intriguing Jack-O’-Lantern Lane. This spooky yet whimsical area will feature hundreds of artificially carved pumpkins, lit up to create magical scenes—ideal for those looking to dive into the spirit of the Halloween season.

More Seasonal Fun Ahead

As fall becomes winter, Sara’s Farm Adventure will transform into a holiday wonderland with Santa’s Southern Lights featuring dazzling Christmas decorations. It’s clear this place is designed to celebrate the changing seasons and bring joy to visitors year-round.

A Rich History Behind the Farm

This is more than just a park; it has roots that stretch back over four decades. Karisa Ruth, the director of retail sales, shares the inspiring story of how the farm began. “The original Sara was Sara Powell, who started selling from the back of her Cadillac at Fort Gordon over 40 years ago,” she reveals. And thus began a legacy that has given rise to a flourishing market and now this exciting agritourism park.

Karisa recounts how the founder eventually sold the business to Chalmers and Lori Anne Carr right at her kitchen table. The transformation from a simple roadside stand to a fully-fledged agritourism destination is a testament to the power of community and passion for agriculture.

The Journey to Reality

Karisa reflects on her personal journey to bring the park to life, describing how she spent two and a half years researching agritourism parks across the country. “It’s incredibly fulfilling to see something go from pencil and paper to becoming a real, vibrant place,” she says, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to this dream.

Mark Your Calendars!

The wait is almost over! Mark your calendars for September 19th when Sara’s Farm Adventure officially opens its doors at 1 PM. Regular hours will be Thursdays through Sundays, with Thursday hours from 1 PM to 10 PM and Friday to Sunday from 10 AM to 10 PM. Don’t miss out on the fun, laughter, and learning that awaits!
