A Look Back at Aiken’s Rich History
Back in May of 1984, Whitney Brisbin became the star of the show at the Apple Ensemble Concert, happily settling into her wagon at the picturesque Hopelands Gardens. Can you just picture that moment? A delightful concert surrounded by lush gardens—a real community highlight!
Fast forward to 1994, and the heart of Aiken shines in another way during the Hospital Auxiliary awards luncheon at Houndslake Country Club. Dorothy Sanders was honored with the prestigious Life Member Award while Tara Thomas earned the title of Junior Volunteer of the Year. It’s always heartwarming to see hardworking individuals getting the recognition they deserve!
How about a little fun for the kids? Back in 1993, Mead Hall’s principal, Anita Maddox, cut the ribbon for shiny new playground equipment, thanks to a fifth-grade class that showed what teamwork looks like by achieving 100 percent participation in fundraising. That’s the spirit we love to see!
