Beech Island, S.C. – Beech Island residents can now marvel at a significant historical reference right within their city. On Friday, a brand new historical marker narrating a pivotal episode from the Revolutionary War was unveiled.

The marker, highlighting the vital battle of May 21, 1781, has been installed at the intersection of Silver Bluff Road and Old Jackson Highway. It commemorates the fleeting, but momentous engagement that transpired at George Galphin’s Trading Post, also known as Fort Galphin.
