Garden Club of Aiken’s Holiday Greenery Sale
One of the highlights this week is the annual Holiday Greenery Sale hosted by the Garden Club of Aiken. They’re taking orders through Monday, Oct. 28, and you won’t want to miss out on their beautiful offerings. They have a range of stunning greenery options including three sizes of wreaths and lovely garlands, perfect for sprucing up your home this holiday season. Prices for wreaths range from $30 to $80, while garlands will set you back between $80 and $130. For those looking to add a festive touch, large hand-tied red bows and holiday bulbs—including three types of amaryllis and paperwhites—are also available for $15 each. Be sure to pick up your orders on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Aiken County Historical Museum!
Art and Culture on Display
Another fantastic opportunity this week is the African Roots — Gullah Fruit Exhibit, which will open with a reception on Thursday, Oct. 24, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.. Hosted at the Center for African American History, Art and Culture, this exhibit showcases the rich heritage and journey of African roots through the Lowcountry. Historian Wayne O’Bryant will lead a discussion about the Gullah culture and its significance. Admission is free, and food and drink will be provided for attendees!
Book Lovers Unite
If you’re a book enthusiast, gather with fellow readers at the Aiken County Public Library today at 2:30 p.m. for the book club meeting. The current discussion is centered around “Killers of a Certain Age” by author Richard Osman. You can sign up at the information desk on the second floor. Also, don’t miss out on the sweet Fall Story Time sessions for little ones, happening every Tuesday at the Aiken Visitor Center and Train Museum.
Quilt Show and More
The Carolina Pine Quilters will be holding their annual Quilt Show starting October 22 through November 15 at the Aiken County Historical Museum. If you appreciate beautiful craftsmanship, this is an event you definitely want to check out!
Family-Friendly Fun
Looking for fun family activities? Mark your calendars for Friday, Oct. 25—the Aiken County Visitors Center will be hosting a Trick-or-Treat Drop-In from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Bring the kids in their costumes, make some crafts, and enjoy spooky treats while supplies last! Following that, there’s a Trunk-or-Treat event at Horse Creek Academy on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 5-8 p.m.. Admission is free, and a $10 fee applies to anyone wishing to host a trunk!
